Sexual Education And Safety Awareness
Shaping the Future of Youth
Mission
Paving the Way to a Brighter and Safer Future
Children are the future. Spoorthi believes that students have an immeasurable power in their voices and visions. In order to pave the way for a bright future, it is vital for our youth to be educated on the decisions they make. Learning about various topics like body image, healthy relationships, and consent will not only equip the youth in making healthy decisions, but will also allow them to gain more perspective on the world they live in. We, humans, have the ability to impact each other. Beneficially or negatively, it is in our choice. The right education can allow us to impact each other in a positive way.

Spoorthi Vallamkonda authored a curriculum titled Sexual Education and Safety Awareness in collaboration with a sexuality health educator, Ivy Chen and Empower and Excel. The book named "Jagruthi" was launched by the Andhra Pradesh state child welfare committee. She conducted workshops in five public high schools, two homeless shelters, and one shelter for victims of human trafficking in southern India. In addition to this, she distributed her books and informational posters to the schools, and shelters for use in the future. With the money she fundraised, Spoorthi gave each girl a safety kit including a whistle and flashlight. In such communities, speaking about sexual violence was uncommon and many individuals remained trapped in a vicious cycle. Through her curriculum, she helped foster an environment that encouraged sharing experiences, rather than feeling shamed and victimized. This curriculum empowered youth to take control of their life and face the obstacles they encounter head on. She helped students understand that conversation unites individual, while isolation divides.
